Marilyn Monroe Collection

It's been a while!
Things have been kind of a whirlwind lately, but I am going to try to post at least weekly again.
And do more tutorials!
For now, I have a few outfit posts to share.
The first is this gorgeous outfit from the Marilyn Monroe collection at Macy's.
The entire collection is such a dream.

ALSO- notice how cute those sunglasses are? Snagged a pair of vintage Ray Bans at the thrift shop the other daty :)

Thrifting

The shoes are up in the shop now, with the matryoshka hanger.
The dress/romper will be up soon, as well.
It doubles as a swim suit! It's handmade, and very cute :)

Mt. Vernon, Washington

Although we weren't with family on Mother's day,
we did have the joy of Matthew's mother coming to visit us last week.
We took a trip up to Mt. Vernon and explored a little bit.
We found a really great restaurant and had some lunch.
It was a very nice day, and a beautiful town!

PS- are you dying for that chair?!
Me too.

Hey, Mama

Yesterday was Mother's Day.
I love this holiday. I love the idea of setting aside an entire day just for the special women who raised you.
Unfortunately because of the distance and my work schedule, I was unable to actually be with my mom yesterday.
But she is, always has been and always will be the most amazing woman I know.
She's beautiful from head to toe and has taught me so much.
I hope dearly that one day I can be as strong a person as she is.
I love you mama.

But Mother's day, for me, celebrates a lot of people.
I am lucky enough to have two incredible grandmothers (and grandfather's!) who helped raise me, too.
I also have a wonderful step mother.
I am also close with my boyfriend's family, and his mother is someone I've grown very close to.
These people deserve recognition and love as well.
I would not be the person I am today without any of them.
So thank you, family.
I love you very much, and appreciate you all more than you could know.

What I'm Listening To:

Song of the week is definitely
Everybody But Me
by Lykke Li
I love her and have found a renewed love in this song lately.
Subsequently listening to it on repeat.
I hope I don't make myself dislike it.

Bold Pastels

I'm really loving bolder pastel colours for Summer Time this year.
As always, Modcloth takes the cake.
They have so much beautiful summer clothing!
I especially am loving the mint/aqua and yellows.

I've been dying to have a night out lately.
Dress up, not have to cook or clean.
Just me and my sweetie.
Well, Modcloth (Once again) has got me losing my mind.
Right now I am super in love with all of their black/red items.

This would be my ideal date night outfit right now!

Bag: Fill in the Bag
Necklace: Like Sew

I have been so loving the dresses with heart-cut-outs. This one is spectacular.
And those shoes?!

Cougar Mountain, Washington

I can not stress how important it is to Matthew and I to take time and be around nature.
Go to the beach, or the forest or just somewhere beautiful.
Luckily we live in Washington state, and there are plenty of beautiful places around us.
Recently, we visited Cougar Mountain and explored a few of the trails.
It was a perfect adventure.

Let's Talk Skin.

So, I've noticed recently that the skin care products that I've been using have not been working.
Sure, they clear up spots and pimples a little bit, but at the end of the day my face was still blotchy and irritated.
Why have an entire routine, every morning and every night, if it's not making a difference that you can see?
So I took a trip into my local Lush.
The people who work in there were very quick to diagnose my skin and realize what it needed.
AND, they sent me home with samples! To try and see which worked.
I am almost out of the samples now, and I have seen such a huge difference in my skin that I will be back right away once it's gone to purchase them!

The first sample I was given was called Herbalism,
it's a cold cleanser that you mix with water and wash off.
It smells amazing and makes my skin feel incredible!

The second sample was of a moisturizer called Enzymion.
I was given two moisturizers to try, the other was Cosmetic Lad. It also smells wonderful but I have yet to try that one.
I use this after I use Herbalism, and as it is a cleanser- you do not wash it off.
It is light and feels 10x better than the other products I was using.
I also use Enzymion on my stretched ears when I take my plugs out to sleep, and my ears have felt substantially healthier since.

The products at Lush are all fresh, and made with natural ingredients.
No face or skin product that I have ever tried (and I've tried a lot- from cheap to spendy!) have ever worked so well, so quickly!
I would suggest to anyone to at least go in and let them give you samples of the products they believe would help you.
But I have to warn you, you will be hooked right away!

Currently Swooning

Okay, so I don't know about anyone else,
But I feel like I have been suffering from shopping fever lately.
Maybe it's because every store I love has put out fabulous spring collections recently,
Or maybe it's working in a department store.
But either way, I have to do something to stop myself from spending!
Lately, it's been Polyvore.com
I love being able to just select a store and search through items and put an outfit together!
So I'm going to try and post those weekly.

Here's what I am currently completely swooning over on Modcloth.com
The perfect spring outfit for a picnic or Saturday Market

Tights- Tights for Every Occasion in Wine
Earrings- Victorian is Mine
Bracelet- Circle Back
Ring- Lead the Aweigh
Dress- Pearl of Hour
Headband- Fleur Any Occasion
Bag- The Cambridge Satchel by Upwardly Mobile
Necklace- Glam of La Mancha
Shoes- Jeffrey Campbell Refresh

I feel mostly like this is a new way to "window shop".
Which is great!
Modcloth is one of my absolute favourite sites, and a major inspiration for me. I find myself on the site daily, even when I haven't got money to spend.
Of course I'm a sucker for vintage inspired anything, but their items have something special to them.

Hello! I am back! & Here to stay!

Okay guys.
So here's the scoop.

I have been nervous. Okay, maybe really nervous to re-start this blog. I have my own set of blogs that I follow.. and they are SO wonderful. These people are literally living my dream life! Now, it seems inspiring and pretty at first when you're exploring and thinking it would be fun to do yourself. Things like Pinterest are making it possible.

But for me, and probably many others, it was a little bit disheartening when trying to start my own blog. I do not feel as together, or creative or inspirational as all of these other strong, awesome blogging women are. Well. Then I realized something (that I probably should have long before) when my boyfriend said, "Where do you think they were when they started?'. So I did a little more investigating. What do you know? When these women started, they were exactly where I am today. Not a lot of big time income. A lot of self photos. Smaller tutorials. Less followers. But they were no less talented. And no less driven. And that's what it takes. It takes a long time and sometimes it kind of feels like you're sharing things with a wall but it can be done! As long as you create everyday. You set forth the effort and invest your time and energy, even if you are working a day job or two or three, find the time. Make the time. Because in the end if you put out what you feel other people are going to feel it too.

Creating for a living is not easy.
But anything worth achieving takes work.

We are so lucky to be living in a time when we can do exactly what we want to be doing for a living and making it work. Things like Etsy and Youtube and Blogspot are literally changing the way people can create. We are able to work, independently. We are able to work from home. But it isn't easy. It isn't something that falls into your lap. It's something you have to work hard for because in the end it is such a great reward.

So this is my encouragement, to anyone, who makes anything. Whether you write, or you're a musician or you craft or draw or paint or weld or whittle or garden. Anything that you create and you find beautiful and inspiring is worth working towards making your everyday. You can do it. Whether it is on the internet, or on a larger scale, or even at a farmer's market, or somewhere in your community you are making a difference in people's lives. And a vast difference in your own.

If everyone who had that drive in them would pursue it, and create and sell and share things independently we could have entire communities, and entire nation that supports itself by sharing each individual person's strongest passions. Because every person is passionate about something. We have come so far already. But I know there are plenty of people out there like me, who are nervous or scared or think they can't do it.

Well, you never know if you don't try. And if you even go to Etsy for a minute, or log onto Pinterest, or any of the millions of other sites for hand makers, you will see like I did that it is possible. Sure, not everyone will get internet famous or have a huge community of people. But everyone has great ideas and great things to say and there will always be people who want to hear what YOU have to say. So speak out!

Be brave.

& With that, I will be sharing more. I will be talking about my projects more. I will post here weekly at least. I will be present and work towards what I want!
